Newell and Sorrell has unveiled the logo for the G8 Birmingham Summit taking place in May. It is intended to convey the power of the world’s big players, promote Britain and stay politically neutral.
It is a visual play on 1998 and the G8 name. “The coincidence of the date and the G8 name is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” says director John Simmons.
The consultancy had to allay initial Foreign Office fears that the logo was too modern-looking.
