Found to freshen up menu for Balthaup kitchens

Found Associates has presented first concepts this week for a revamp of kitchen retailer Bulthaup’s Marylebone, London showroom as the company plans for growth and the launch of its 2004 range.

Found Associates was briefed to create an ‘understated, simple, contemporary’ look for the showroom that would ‘allow the kitchens to do the shouting’, says the consultancy’s director Richard Found.

The design also had to incorporate a mezzanine floor that could contain an office, a staff kitchen and a storage area, he adds.

The interior will resemble an art gallery, ‘with the kitchens as the exhibits’. The showroom will be divided into three areas, with white walls, grey resin floors, ‘stretched material’ ceilings and accent lighting, Found says.

In the evenings, the lights will be sequenced to individually illuminate kitchens for a spotlight effect.

Found Associates won the work, worth a five-figure fee to the group, without a pitch in July.

Found and senior designer Michael Girvan are creative leads on the project.
