Elvis lives on at Carlsberg concert

London consultancy 4i and Lawson Marshall Cole have each designed elements for Saturday evening’s television broadcast of The Carlsberg Concert at Wembley Stadium.

The concert celebrates Carlsberg’s 150th anniversary and commemorates the 20th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. Songs and Visions, the show, will be broadcast on BBC1 and around the world on 16 August, the same day as the concert.

The overall logo is an adaptation of the Carlsberg identity by Lawson Marshall Cole. It shows a spotlight and a galaxy and “doesn’t seek to reflect any particular type of music”, says group managing director Andy Cole.

4i has designed 20-second introductory graphic sequences for each song. Some of these feature re-edited archive footage to give “a period feel”, says 4i managing director Mark Norton.

The consultancy has also designed six sequences which will appear on background video screens during songs including Stairway to Heaven, and all print material for the concert.
