Regarding your Vox Pop (DW 24 July), my summer fantasy is to create a Special Summer Day once every year.

On this day every designer in the UK is invited to gather under a different glazed roof or sky – the Design Museum, Tate Modern, the British Museum or the Victoria & Albert Museum, for example – and celebrate the coming of age of our profession and their years of life’s achievements.

It could also be a chance to meet old friends and acquaintances and settle old scores.

The event would provide an opportunity for the young and the more experienced of us to greet new ideas and help develop new talent, free from the monitor or drawing board.

It could be sponsored by the Government and hosted by Terence Conran, our very own design guru, in appreciation of our invaluable input into the economy and wellbeing of the country. Everyone there would be equal and purely there for their love of design.

Now that sounds more like a fantasy world than a summer fantasy and as a consequence does not comply.
