Still Waters runs Sony magazine

London group Still Waters Run Deep has been appointed lead design consultancy for Sony Europe to create all its internal and external communications.

The first design project is the Europe-wide company’s internal employee magazine, which launches in January. It will be consumer-led, translated into four languages and aims to establish a “core design flavour for all Sony’s communications material”, says Still Waters Run Deep creative director Anita Brightley-Hodges.

“The magazine will be pictorial and design-led, but ‘pickupable’ so it speaks to Sony employees,” she says. “We are seeking to reflect Sony’s creative spirit – such as its work on PlayStation 2 – and make it relevant to its 22 European offices.”

The consultancy is also developing an Intranet site for Sony employees, which is expected to launch in tandem with the magazine next year, as well as further corporate literature and pan-European conferences.

Sony Europe aims to be more proactive and make better use of tools such as internal magazines, says director of Sony Europe Corporate Communications Aldo Liguori.

“A single, central design consultancy will help achieve that aim,” he adds.
