The Design Group is feeling the buzz for Cafein

Newcastle-based based consultancy The Design Group has created new identities for Internet company Cafein and its internal divisions, to reflect the company’s name change from “Ein” and strengthen its position in the competitive digital market.

The Design Group has developed a dark petrol-blue colourway which acts as a visual link between Cafein’s three core divisions. These include Cafein itself, UK Domains, a Web name registration service, and Sound Fusion, which specialises in bringing real-time, quality sound to the Web.

The Cafein name was developed as a play on industry words such as “java coffee”, says Cafein commercial director Steve Witt. To extend this theme, its new core marque features two silver coffee beans which are also incorporated into the two division’s logos.

Sound Fusion features an integrated logo and graphics with a blurred typeface to create a “fused sound effect” and the site features an animated cartoon character – Buddy – to help visitors to the site, says a Design Group spokesman.

“The use of simple graphics and colour aims to ensure Cafein’s new identity can be carried across all the company’s key elements such as literature, websites and signage,” he adds.
