Could Trout be a red herring? Mullet over

There’s something fishy about Purple Circle’s latest project – the bottle and packaging design for a new perfume named Trout.

The scent is the brainchild of Paris-company The House of Cecil Ruppler and is due to hit French department stores at the end of April.

‘Trout still means fish in France, but it has a different meaning. It doesn’t have the slang connotations it does in Britain,’ says project director Philip Moog. ‘It’s a scent for an independent woman who is not afraid to stand out from the crowd and it has a sharper tang than your regular run-of-the-mill aroma,’ he adds.

Interestingly, Cecil Ruppler is an anagram of Purple Circle. It’s a small world.
