Magpie Studio has created the identity and website for The Neon Birdcage, a trend-forecasting resource pitched at brands, organisations and creative groups.
The company has been set up by former GDR Creative Intelligence executive editor Lucy Johnston, who appointed Magpie last September on the strength of its design of GDR’s Global Innovation Report.
Magpie director Jamie Ellul says the identity avoids ‘birdcage imagery, as The Neon Birdcage is a strong visual name’. The key marque is an instructive symbol, according to Ellul, who adds, ‘It offers up the key to the neon birdcage and the knowledge within.’
A journal and website are being designed for a February launch. Ellul says the journal will have a ‘tight typographic feel’ and the site a ‘clean look’.
