Design Bridge sports backpack

Design Bridge has created a backpack, called the Fin, for UK watersports accessories manufacturer, Gul.

The bag, which will go on sale in the autumn, is aimed at people who want to be associated with extreme watersports rather than participants themselves.

The bag can be opened completely for full access to the contents and is a combination of moulded shell and soft nylon fabric. Called the Fin, the bag is a hybrid of a wetsuit, an impact vest and a rucksack.

“Gul’s previous bags were in danger of becoming generic. If the designs were stripped of their embellishments they could belong to anyone, says Design Bridge Structure managing director Nick Verebelyi. “The Fin aims to take Gul’s core expertise and brand values to the street.”

It won the business without a pitch. It refuses to disclose details of its fee.
