Lipson Laport Glass Associates in the US has designed the graphics for Perrier’s new limited edition range of sparkling water, the Jazz Bottle.

This boat interior may look like it’s floating down the Grand Union, but it’s actually a large scale toy designed by JJA associate Tim Pyne. It is one of two boats floating in a giant bath in a huge bathroom designed by JJA and built by Carlton Beck. The bathroom is the central feature at this year’s Ideal Home exhibition at Earls Court Exhibition Centre which opens today and ends on 8 April. Pyne says: ‘People will either hate or love the boats. But at least it will get people talking about design.’

Alan South has joined product consultancy IDEO to head up its engineering section. South joins from Cambridge Consultants where he worked for 11 years.

The interior of Cybersmith, an Internet café in White Plains, New York, was designed by Fitch. Client company Marshall Smith, founder of US chains Paperback Booksmith and Videosmith, appointed Fitch’s Boston office to pioneer what is in essence the retailing of information and time as products. Fitch claims Cybersmith is a departure from other cybercafés because it sells a ‘total experience’ rather than just coffee and computer access. Fitch’s designs include a Cybersmith membership card, which activates the computers, the retail environment and café, and on-screen work. Another Cybersmith is expected to open in Boston this summer.
