Vibrant Lopex plans growth

Design In Action is in a bullish mood as it announces preliminary end-of-year results for 1995 showing a pre-tax profit of almost 1.5m, compared with an 890 000 loss in 1994.

DIA’s parent company Lopex chairman Lord Marsh says the group “will seek acquisition opportunities”.

Chief executive Peter Thomas says: “Design is an important leg of the table for us. We want to make this aspect of the group grow, either organically through DIA or by acquisition.”

Thomas says Lopex doesn’t have plans to acquire any specific consultancies at this stage.

Lord Marsh says the 1995 results “bode well for the coming year”.

All of Lopex’s fully-owned UK operations, including Design In Action, are now profitable.

Thomas says Lopex is “very pleased” with DIA’s contribution to the group’s accounts but he will not divulge DIA’s figures.

Lopex shares stood unchanged at 20.5 as Design Week went to press.
