The Canon Photography Gallery opens at The Victoria and Albert Museum with an introduction to the V&A collection Photography: An Independent Art. The collection charts the history of photography from the museum’s first international exhibition in 1858. A fully illustrated book accompanies the opening and exhibition. From 21 May until November.

Scents and Ciphers is a display of new work by painter and University of Central England lecturer Victoria Arney. Arney was one of two artists selected by architect Shillam + Smith to take up a workspace opportunity in Mojacar, Spain. From 15 May until 26 June.
