Studio Space One digs down for online venture Manic Organic

Studio Space One is creating the identity and website for Manic Organic, a new Web venture which aims to have the biggest online organic presence in the world.

The ambitious undertaking will exist initially as an online directory for organic products and brands. It plans to expand, first by using user-generated content, and then by developing its own product reviews, recommendations and a facility to search for local organic produce.

Studio Space One was appointed in April on the strength of previous work carried out for the owner of Manic Organic, Errol Chevannes.

The consultancy was given an open brief and is currently developing a solution which will be ready in time for the website’s proposed launch on 16 July.

Working designs for the website are based around concepts of growth and trees rooted to a global curve, in what Studio Space One director Sam Gray calls a ‘make-believe world’. Users will be able to search using brand, keywords or product terms. Night and day will be simulated, and postage stamps acting as navigational tools will ‘suggest locality’, according to Gray.

The logo, in a Megalopolis Extra font, takes its cue from the aesthetic of the early website designs.

Studio Space One will be involved in future development of the project, according to Chevannes, which may include plans to syndicate the site in other languages.

I’ve just googled “manic organic”. It’s a brand that crops elsewhere (most notably on a range of juices in the UK). A bit of an issue?
