Button seeks cash for Ashes

Events group Button Communications is seeking 1m in sponsorship to get a cricket exhibition celebrating 120 years of the Ashes off the ground.

The group was selected by the Australian High Commission to plan, design and stage the event at the exhibition hall of Australia House on London’s Strand from May to September. It will coincide with the 1997 Ashes tour in England by the Australian cricket team and may then move to Australia the following year.

Sue Bingham, managing director of graphics and advertising subsidiary the Button Design Company, which has completed an identity for the show, says the exhibition will include memorabilia of the history of the Ashes.

The group has raised funds for events in the past, claims Bingham, and is confident of securing sponsorship after lining up several UK and Australian patrons.

The Ashes РThe Greatest Cricket Show, will include a website, multimedia shows and a pavilion caf̩.
