BAA Island interiors by Din Associates

Din Associates has been appointed by BAA to design the interior for the new “pay as you use” arrivals lounge at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal Three. The lounge opens next spring. Pentagram Design was appointed to name and brand the venue in June (DW 6 August 1999).

The 560sqm lounge, called The Island, will be open to passengers on any airline, but it is intended mainly for those on long-haul flights. It includes 30 luxury shower suites, a valet service, refreshments and business utilities, plus facilities for disabled travellers.

Din Associates project director Angela Drinkall says: “We will be creating a unique lounge that has an upmarket yet relaxed, refreshing and contemporary ambience. The finishes will be textural and robust, including stone and natural timbers.”
