Video: Lucy Sparrow on her felt food creations

Following the success of The Cornershop two years ago, the felt artist has launched a crowdfunding campaign to launch a similar concept in New York.

In 2014, designer Lucy Sparrow highlighted the demise of the local newsagent with a month-long installation, which saw her fill an abandoned corner shop in Bethnal Green, London with hand sewn felt versions of famous British food products.

Now she is hoping to take her concept across the pond, with a crowdfunding campaign to open The Convenience Store in New York for three weeks in summer 2017.

Design Week spoke to Sparrow about the inspiration behind the project, how long it takes to create her felt creations and her other upcoming shows in London and Miami.

Find out more about the project and how to donate to the crowdfunding campaign before 29 August here.
