The Los Angeles 2024 Olympic bid logo by 72andSunny and Bruce Mau Design has been unveiled and features an abstracted angel-like figure in reference to LA’s original Spanish name “City of Angels”.

72andSunny has developed the logo and Bruce Mau Design has worked on brand application and guidelines.

“Reaching for their dreams”

The angel figure in the logo is, according to the bid team, also an athlete “reaching for their dreams”, who has been “illuminated, lifted and empowered” by the rays of the sun.

Bruce Mau Design president and chief executive officer Hunter Tura says the design framework is “inclusive and optimistic, expressing the positive spirit of the Games”.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti says: “This logo captures the essence of LA – a soaring belief that through hard work, creativity and ingenuity, we can follow the sun and reach the highest levels of success.”

The other cities bidding for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games are: Rome, which has designed an in-house identity; Paris, which has worked with Dragon Rouge; and Budapest, which is yet to reveal its logo.
