The Tom Dixon design brand has been sold to NEO, a British investment company, by its previous owner Proventus.
Designer Tom Dixon set up his eponymous brand in 2002. In 2004 Swedish investment firm Proventus acquired a majority stake in the Tom Dixon brand.
The 2004 move saw Proventus align Tom Dixon with Finnish furniture design house Artek, which it also owned at the time.
Proventus sold Artek to Vitra in 2013.
Proventus has now announced that it has sold the Tom Dixon brand, a move that it says “marks the end of Proventus’s role as an owner and developer of design-driven businesses”.
Proventus says that during its ten-year ownership of Tom Dixon, the brand has grown from £100,000 company to a global business employing 95 people and selling in 95 countries.
Tom Dixon says: “Proventus has been a steady and wise partner and as we move on I will always be grateful for the support and belief they have given my crazy ideas.”
Tom Dixon’s new owner NEO says: “NEO Investment Partners has invested alongside Tom Dixon to support the brand’s ambitious plans for growth through expansion of product typologies, enhanced services and broader distribution.”
