2m funds on offer for multimedia work

DESIGNERS working in new media can compete for funding of 2m with the introduction of a Government-backed multimedia awards scheme.

The Information Society Creativity Awards (ISCAs) have been set up to help companies bring innovative ideas for digital products and applications to the market.

Design minister Ian Taylor says: “The ISCAs will be welcome news for the myriad small, often home-based design companies competing for work in the new media, by helping them fund cherished flagship projects.”

The awards, worth up to 50 000 each, are aimed at businesses with fewer than 250 staff. A Student New Media Award is open to students and recent graduates.

The ISCAs are part of the Information Society Initiative, a four-year 35m Department of Trade and Industry programme. Winners will be announced next February.
