Government initiative results in links with US

Able Design in New York has created concepts for two South Korean companies as part of a Government-sponsored initiative to link small Korean manufacturing firms with overseas design groups.

The Korean Institute of Industrial Design and Packaging set up the Foreign Designer Consultation Programme to introduce client firms to designers working in the markets they hope to enter.

Western designers are allocated to a company and work on a specific project.

While there, designers can hope to forge contacts with other potential clients.

Able design director Stuart Harvey Lee created three new models for the next generation ATX computers for the Wonfin Precision Company, which will be launched this autumn.

Consultancy president Martha Davis designed a new identity and packaging for a skincare line by Hanna Company.

The range, called Epilogue, will be launched internationally in the next couple of months.
