The 10m Millennium Wheel, planned to tower over London by summer 1998, will have a logo designed by Neville Brody’s consultancy Research Studios. The logo is ready but is being kept under wraps until sponsorship is finalised.
Architectural practice David Marks Julia Barfield, the instigator and designer of the wheel, asked the consultancy to create “an icon for the millennium and beyond”, according to director Julia Barfield.
The logo for the giant ferris wheel will be “plastered all over London in the run-up to the year 2000”, says Research Studios senior designer Tom Hingston.
Planning permission for the privately funded, 150 metre-high wheel is anticipated within six months, says the architect.
