Foundation to bring design to the people

The Architecture Foundation is welcoming proposals from design consultancies for a roadshow in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, aimed at improving ten neglected public spaces.

The roadshow will launch during the last week of February, holding events as close as possible to the sites in question. Designers will be able to take part in workshops with local residents who wish to become involved in the design of their environment.

Designers will then have six weeks to develop proposals for the sites, which will be exhibited in a shopping centre in the borough during May.

The local council is supporting the initiative, and Architecture Foundation director Lucy Musgrave says there is a genuine commitment to implementing ideas from the project. Local residents will be alerted to the roadshow by prominent advertisements starting next month.
