A merger between Loewy Group stablemates The Team and Loewy Branding Communications is expected to boost the former’s industry standing.
The two consultancies are uniting as a single business under The Team banner and will move into new premises in London’s Southwark over the next few months.
The Team managing director Julian Grice becomes chief executive of the new enterprise, which is expected to employ some 150 staff.
Loewy Group chief executive Iain Johnston describes The Team as ‘a fast-growing business’, which has virtually doubled its staff to about 100 over the past three years.
The consultancy is organised into four hubs – branding, employee engagement, marketing communications and digital design – each with its own managing director, creative director, and client services and sales heads. Johnston created Loewy Brand Communications out of small branding-related companies within the group in February 2008, before he became full-time chief executive.
Grice says its strengths in publishing and internal communications bring a ‘content engine’ to complement The Team’s offers, while its marcoms business builds The Team’s capability in the public sector and technology markets.
Johnston talks of the ‘critical mass’ the merger creates. ‘The beefed-up Team can hire more expensive people and create greater opportunities for existing staff,’ he says.
