Ironic comment puts student in place

Good old degree shows. The source of not simply the next generation of design talent, but perhaps less obviously some inspired writers.

At the recent Central St Martins graduate show one student had cleverly photographed random window shoppers gazing in upon the display of shoes of a busy shoe store. The punters’ faces are nearly as amusing as the comment book beside the work.

One commentator was inspired to compliment the student’s space and then add in parentheses the poignant remark, ‘(irony is such a cruel tool!)’. It certainly is.
