Met Studio has designed an exhibit to open this week at The Natural History Museum’s Discovery Centre.

Entitled Look Closer, the new exhibition consists of an interactive display surrounding a micrarium, a projection microscope which lets visitors view pond life at magnifications from 22 times to 140 times.

“Discovery Centre staff found that children often mishandled the device so we tackled it by devising a series of exhibits which entice children to look more closely,” explains a Met spokeswoman.

A screen with a “friendly ant guides them around the display to look at a variety of pond life such as water fleas, amoeba and hydra, first with the naked eye, then with a magnifying glass, with a microscope and finally the micrarium itself”, says the spokeswoman.
