I love music – it’s my constant inspiration. I danced away my teenage years to a heady soundtrack of Northern Soul, Reggae, James Brown and Motown.
I came to study design at the London College of Printing as London turned spiky and punk. This musical anarchy was not for me. Instead, I accompanied my father to Ronnie Scott’s, indulging in our shared passion for jazz. I spent hedonistic nights in the emerging 1980s club culture with an eclectic playlist ranging from the truly innovative Kraftwerk to very cool early Frank Sinatra.
As I started exploring design on first generation Apple Macs, fantastic new electronic dance music was being forged in Chicago and Detroit – a new love was born and a precious House and Techno vinyl collection grew. I adore seeing new live bands, usually at the Jazz Café or The Big Chill.
Our partnership with Loman Street Studio has allowed me to combine my passion for music and design to create sonic brands for integrated on-line marketing solutions combining sound, film and animation. Sound Idea was created for sonic projects in the UK and Russia with Mildberry. Sensory marketing and brand experience is a growing area of interest for our clients – one of our most compelling questions remains, ‘What does your brand sound like?’
