Robert Webb goes for Green exhibitions

Robert Webb Associates has created a low-energy demountable exhibition hall designed to showcase energy efficient and environmentally friendly products and systems for a fee of more than £100 000.

The timber structure will make its debut in August 2002 at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development Earth Summit 3 conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. RWA says it could appear sooner at other major world gatherings.

The structure uses energy-saving features including a fuel cell unit that provides heat and power. It was commissioned by Global Development Solutions, a non-profit organisation set up to promote sustainable development exhibitions.

The structure will appear at the UN’s New York headquarters after Earth Summit 3.

RWA won the work having participated in an unpaid creative pitch against an undisclosed number of consultancies.
