Branson Coates is part of the winning consortium to design the UK pavilions for the next two World Expos.

The consortium, led by communications company HP:ICM, has been appointed by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to design, produce and manage the pavilions for Expo 98 in Lisbon and Expo 2000 in Hanover.

HP:ICM won a paid creative pitch against Event Communications, Group Expo, MICE Group, Zig Zag Design Associates, the Di UK consortium and the 2LK consortium (DW 31 January).

The 1300m2 pavilion for Lisbon will be housed in a building designed by Japanese architect Yasuo Muramatsu. The Hanover pavilion will be 3000m2.

Branson Coates will not release any visuals until after the end of June, says marketing director, Anne Brooks.

“It’s far too early to say anything about graphics,” she adds.
