Conference set to decide future of trade bodies

A date has been fixed for a conference to determine the future of design’s trade bodies as part of a review of representation within the industry (DW 2 May).

The conference, to be attended by some 70 delegates from design, education, Government and the client side, will be held at Dean Clough in Halifax on 26 and 27 June. Change management consultant Kinsley Lord will be facilitator at the event, being organised by the Design Business Association, the Chartered Society of Designers, the Design Council and Design Week.

Delegates taking part will create a blueprint for the way designers are represented in the future and the services any trade body should provide. They will be primed with data on what the design industry and its audience say they need, gleaned from an industry-wide survey.

The survey will be based on a questionnaire, to be published in Design Week next week and circulated separately to DBA and CSD members. For additional copies, call Amanda Lake on 0171-439 4222.
