Anyone with a birthday coming up should look to the National Portrait Gallery’s refurbed Regency Rooms as a venue.

Gallery 20 of the Weldon Galleries, spruced in green-silk-and-black-marble style by architect Piers Gough, is set to become ‘the chicest space for hiring in London’, purrs the museum’s Lucy Peltz.
