Is there any way to attract a consultancy’s attention?

I am well aware that the subject of this letter has been mentioned in the past Design Weeks, especially in the 23 January issue about the ‘Job seeker attempts to sell his interview skills’.

My situation is one stage further than the job seeker and I am writing to get help and advice from experienced designers, in getting my foot in the door.

In the past few years since graduating, I have sent numerous covering letters, CVs and samples of my work, from which I have had an excellent response, advice on portfolio, encouragement and been given work placement opportunities in recognised consultancies.

I do understand that the design industry has slowed down and that consultancies have to cut costs with staff, but this puts graduates in a very difficult position.

I now believe that there must be other options within the design field for me to apply my talent and enthusiasm to, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
