Newark promotes his East End gangster-look

Always one to deliver the unexpected, Atelier Works creative director and former Design Week columnist Quentin Newark sent us this picture along with a comment for our Vox Pop section last week. This particular ‘mugshot’ is the portrait that he had painted by illustrator Ben Kirchner.

The warped impression of Newark is only half caricature, as Kirchner worked with an original photograph to produce the finished artwork.

Newark isn’t the only one to receive the treatment, as the entire studio has been immortalised to accompany client proposals, giving a decidedly different impression of the Atelier Works team.

With Newark’s admission that he thinks he looks like ‘a minor member of the Kray’s gang’ (never mind the rest of the team), let’s hope it won’t put more discerning clients off.
