Joint venture to recreate Titanic

Callcott Anderson Design Associates has formed a partnership agreement with Design House South Africa, enabling it to win a novel South African ship interiors project.

RMS Titanic Shipping Holdings proposes to rebuild the infamous Titanic for use as a modern cruise liner, and CADA has been appointed to create the interiors.

The linked consultancies will work with the Johannesburg office of US design group Wilson and Associates, with each party taking a 50 per cent share of the design work. Exact details of which area each party will work on have not yet been worked out.

The ship will be designed from scratch and not based structurally on its tragic namesake, says CADA director David Callcott.

CADA has worked with Design House South Africa, which is not related to UK group Design House, before. “By joining forces with Design House South Africa we are formalising a working relationship which has proved successful,” says Callcott. CADA has taken a 10 per cent stake in the South African group.
