Home Brew is more fun when you give it a DIY twist

I write regarding the News in Pictures section (DW 1 September), with some amusement!

For my client project for Coors Brewers at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in June, I too designed a brand called Home Brew.

Whereas the brand for The Living Room bar took the name literally, with wallpaper imagery and flying ceramic ducks, the brand I created (below) plays on ‘home brew’ light-heartedly, as the beer that naughty boys make in their garden shed.

The underlying theme was of Englishness, hence the archaic bottle, but the humour lies in the logo – it’s from the perspective of someone intoxicated in their garden, looking up at the watering can in front of him, the grass on the side leading to the shed…
