Social UK updates BUNAC branding

London-based consultancy Social UK has redesigned the branding and logo for overseas work provider Bunac (British Universities North America Club).

Bunac is a non-profit organisation that specialises in sending young people on working holidays and volunteering projects abroad.

The branding will be applied to all its communications, including its website, advertisements, leaflets and brochures.

Social UK was awarded the commission in February, after winning a five-way pitch last December. It was added to the pitch list after contacting Bunac towards the end of last year, according to Paul Driver, a partner at Social UK.

‘Bunac was – and still is – an established and well-trusted brand within its market. But in terms of its visual communications it had become a little dated and was lagging behind its competitors. The brief was to create an updated look and feel across all its marketing, culminating in a new visual toolkit and guidelines,’ he says.

‘The original mark was very fussy, institutional and needed modernising. We streamlined it by dropping all the unnecessary elements that were no longer bringing value to the brand, but retained a typography style,’ Driver adds.

Vicki Cunningham, a senior communications manager at Bunac, says, ‘We needed a more contemporary branding. We’ve expanded the number of worldwide programmes that we offer, and we needed a brand that could encompass them all.’

The new branding and logo will be applied to all Bunac communications in July, in time for the next academic year.
