Dan Flavin; Urban Nomads; Young Nordic Design: The Generation X

The first major exhibition in a public gallery of American artist Dan Flavin‘s flourescent light sculptures begins on 24 August and runs until 23 September. Along with Carl Andre, Donald Judd and Sol Lewitt, Flavin became known as a founder of ‘Minimal Art’ in the early 1960s.

Venue: Serpentine Gallery, Kensington Gardens, London W2.

The group exhibition investigating mobile lifestyles, Urban Nomads, continues until 2 September. The contributors, whose work ranges from architecture to exhibition design and marketing concepts, will give talks during August. Andreas Lang, Andrea Phillips and Andrew Renton discuss the concept of the nomadic from three standpoints on 19 August at 3pm.

Young Nordic Design: The Generation X is a touring exhibition presenting young designer’s work from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. It runs from 24 August until 16 September.
