Would the Council like to try something new?

A couple of weeks ago, your Voxpop section posed the question, ‘What sort of person should take over as chairman of the Design Council when George Cox’s tenure comes to an end this autumn? Who would you put in the frame?’

Although I appreciate the professionalism and integrity of the current regime at the Design Council, I can’t help feeling that it lacks something. Perhaps someone with real creative spirit, energy and passion for design would add the missing ingredient.

So why not Vivienne Westwood (pictured, centre)? She certainly knows how to inspire people, how to be radical and how to make creativity pay – and she understands craft and quality too.

Business in the 21st century could do with a little of her off-the-wall thinking.
