Anti Copying in Design has scored its 41st success in protecting members from copyright infringement of designs. The Imperial Cancer Research Fund, Richard Lang & Son and Ackerman Group have agreed to stop importing and selling fused glass fish designs, which are similar to products created by ACID member Armstrong Designs. Armstrong Designs partner Gillian Armstrong Williams says: ‘It is essential both for my own business and for my customers that copies of our designs are removed from the marketplace as soon as possible. Through ACID, we have been able to achieve this and we will continue to do this.’ The companies in question have agreed to pay compensation to Armstrong for profits made on sales of the products and to contribute towards its legal costs. Currently, ACID has some 50 on-going cases. Director Simon Clark says: ‘Designers should keep a vigilant watch at exhibitions and within their market, and should act immediately if they discover copies of their designs.’
