MEI has a Cabvision of the future

Multimedia design group MEI has designed and installed an interactive entertainment and information service for passengers in some of London’s black cabs.

Cabvision is the first system of its kind. It will allow taxi passengers to view a selection of programmes on four channels on a 10-inch flat screen monitor.

The consultancy has developed the software, graphics and user interface for the system.

MEI managing director Richard Dale says: “Cabvision is an exciting development in multimedia on the move and is representative of the overall trend towards interactive media.”

The roll-out of the new free service will begin in January with an initial run in 100 new-style cabs.

Programmes will include London tourist guides and entertainment diaries, plus slots aimed more at London residents.
