Razorfish has acquired two privately-owned US companies with design capabilities in deals worth £30m ($49m).

The two groups are Boston product design and Internet strategy group TSDesign, and New York group Lee Hunt Associates. LHA provides a range of marketing communications services, including on-screen design branding and print work.

“With these strategic acquisitions, Razorfish deepens its talent pool and its comprehensive service offering,” says the consultancy’s chief executive officer Jeff Dachis.

TSDesign founder Terry Swack becomes vice-president of experience design for Razorfish. Swack founded his business as a graphic design company in 1985, repositioning it to its present status in 1994. Clients include 3M, Compaq, BankBoston and Dell.

LHA president Lee Hunt joins the Razorfish group as head of its New York broadband solutions group. He will oversee the broadband consultancy work of European offices of Razorfish. LHA’s many media clients include NBC, Fox Kids and Disney Channel.

“Great experience design happens only by having human-centred analysis, strategy and creation process from start to finish – something Razorfish and TSDesign understand. This shared view means together we can evolve our design processes continually without fundamentally changing the Razorfish culture,” says Swack.
