The Mac-based video-editing suite Avid should be available around now on Silicon Graphics systems – more accurately, the latest PAL version of Avid’s Media Suite Pro should be. A Windows version is promised later in the year. The app is now being pushed as a high-end digital video editing thingie for any graphics images from CAD/CAM/CAE drawings, real time simulations and animations which need to be recorded on to videotape in real time. The software costs just over Ãº10 000 – which in Silicon Graphics’ terms is half the price of some very ordinary drawing programs on that platform. Avid is on 0753 655 999.
