The Principals sets Burger King on sidewalk

Burger King has opened its first themed UK restaurant, built within the Granada Studios Tour in Manchester. The franchised restaurant was designed by The Principals to reflect the studio tour’s theme of a New York sidewalk, and is based on a 1950s-style construction site.

The walls of the restaurant carry blown-up photographs of skyscraper construction sites, while a children’s area contains an interactive building wall. Video screens around the interior show US TV programmes. Lunch boxes, hard hats and other themed items are also displayed.

The fast food chain is also set to open 20 outlets in Kuwait, where it has agreed with a franchisee to convert a chain of Hungry Bunny restaurants to the Burger King format.

A spokeswoman for the group says that European Burger King staff will work with locals on any adaptations needed for the Kuwait outlets from the chain’s standard design.
