Who takes the blame for mediocre graphics?
I refer to the editor’s view (Comment, DW 6 December 1996) that “seeing so much mediocrity in graphics these days, it’s clear that the influence of these grand old men (Rand/Muller-Brockman/ Games) is on the wane”. Why then does Design Week publish so much mediocre work which is often mindless squiggles?
Graphic design with well-crafted ideas and visual wit is still being produced, but it’s seldom seen on Design Week’s pages.
Perhaps it is your selection standards that are on the wane.
