Footballing banter that puts ball in England’s half

Much as I agree with all that Tim Fendley says about the World Cup 2006 marque (DW 19 December 2002), I cannot be the only person to have a slight sense of schadenfreude that the nation that showed the world how to do identity in the 1930s seems to have lost the plot.

As one of the few Scots who actually wishes England well in the event, I can only hope that German football follows suite.
