Group digests restaurant interiors

Julian Taylor Design Associates is working on two high-profile restaurant interiors projects that are set to open in the next six months.

The consultancy has completed interiors for Mint Leaf, an Indian restaurant due to open in early spring opposite London’s Trafalgar Square. The basement restaurant covers approximately 418m2 and the group has used warm lighting and natural materials.

Julian Taylor Design Associates design director Julian Taylor says, ‘We have created areas inside the restaurant that are more personal than others. We divided up the space in a way that allows customers to see other customers and to see what they’re eating.’

The consultancy is also designing interiors for a Revolution vodka bar in Sheffield (pictured below) for client Inventive Leisure, which is due to open its doors in July.

The bar will be a glazed building designed to feature lots of natural light. It will incorporate bespoke parquet flooring and a drinks display with a frosty theme. Stone and leather will be used throughout.

Julian Taylor Design Associates has been designing Revolution bars for the past five years, and the latest two, in Chester and Harrogate, opened last December.

The Harrogate bar is set inside a listed building, which contrasts with more modern designs.

The group won the Mint Leaf work, for client Out of Africa, on the strength of its work for the Revolution vodka bars, Taylor says.
