Make like a frog

Carter Wong & Partners’ winsome frog image for this year’s BT Swimathon has spawned thousands of name suggestions – but his moniker should really be Phil.

Carter Wong & Partners’ winsome frog image for this year’s BT Swimathon has spawned thousands of name suggestions – but his moniker should really be Phil.

Phil Carter – director at Carter Wong – swam 200 lengths, raising ú150 for six charities. “This event is close to my heart. I’ve done it for three years and it gave me an insight when designing the frog theme. You wind yourself up for it, then off you go.” Reminiscent of the wind-up frog accessory the consultancy produced for bathtime fun. “My legs felt like jelly afterwards but I felt fine and went for a pizza,” says Carter, who is treasuring the medal he designed but had no guarantee of winning.

The frog is likely to become an endorsement for the Swimathon in future. And it has obviously been an influence on Carter – he’s now a regular at London’s Chiswick New Pool and can be recognised by his wide grin and goggles. Perhaps his favourite stroke is froggy-paddle.
