Private group Pedersen Gesk goes Interpublic

The last privately owned group among the Top Ten US branding players has been acquired by a conglomerate. Interpublic Group marketing services company Campbell Mithun Esty has acquired Minneapolis and Toronto-based design consultancy Pedersen Gesk.

Under the terms of the deal Pedersen Gesk, a brand identity and packaging specialist, will continue to operate autonomously within CME, though IPG also owns FutureBrand Worldwide. The company will retain its current name and management.

Until now the 60-strong design consultancy had been the only remaining privately-owned group left among the Top Ten north American branding businesses.

Pedersen Gesk president Brian Muldoon says: “We have a high level of trust in CME and have enjoyed a long relationship with the agency’s top management.

“Working with the agency on its blue chip roster of clients, coupled with our own, will afford unparalleled opportunity.”

CME chairman Bill Dunlap adds that the two groups have worked together for several years: “They are an outstanding design team and experts at developing impactful brand packaging and presentation at retail.”
