Bamber Forsyth joins Cordiant’s global team

London brand communications consultancy Bamber Forsyth has been acquired by global marketing communications company Cordiant Communications in an earn-out shareholder deal that could be worth up to £30m.

The value of the deal depends on the performance of shares until 2004. Bamber Forsyth will sit alongside Cordiant’s existing design consultancies, including Fitch, the Lighthouse Global Network and PSD Associates.

“We wanted to expand our offering to clients beyond our London headquarters,” according to a Bamber Forsyth spokesman. “We can now tap into Cordiant’s network of global offices.”

He confirms that no one from Cordiant will sit on the management board, and says the company is taking a “hands-off” approach to Bamber Forsyth.

“After 22 years, we have thought carefully about joining a group,” says Bamber Forsyth founder Nigel Forsyth. “Cordiant will allow us the independence to continue our own plans, but with support from a global network,” he adds.

The Bamber Forsyth brand and its management board will remain intact, and the company is not moving from its central London headquarters.
