The Waste & Resources Action Programme this week announced that Heinz, Northern Foods and Unilever have signed up to reduce packaging waste. Wrap is reviewing the first years’ progress of the 13 retailers that committed to halt the rise in packaging by 2008 and start reducing it by 2010. Results appear to have been limited to date, and Minister for Local Environment Ben Bradshaw says action ‘has to go further’.
