A year or two ago Design Week wrote an article promoting a fund-raising designers’ karting event for Centrepoint.
Last month I asked for DW’s help again. This time the event was the result of design companies wanting to help Centrepoint, out of respect for Princess Diana, its patron.
Your Diary piece entitled Fund-a-mental error (DW 26 September), pointed out that you felt it thoughtless of Centrepoint “to drum up some funds” by organising a “spot of high speed pursuit”.
It was the design companies and myself who planned this event. It was not Centrepoint’s idea, so it should not be criticised.
For the record, we have over 30 teams entered – all of whom feel strongly that it is a positive way of helping at this critical time.
